How many of your patients are in need of autonomic testing?

About 9% of the population may harbor an autonomic disorder requiring medical attention, or about 30 million people in the U.S. (American Academy of Neurology)

The autonomic nervous system is involved with virtually all diseases. Management of the patient with suspected autonomic dysfunction includes routine and specialized clinical tests to evaluate sympathetic and parasympathetic involvement, and determine the proper course of treatment.

Dizziness and syncope are some of the most frequent conditions for which neurologists are consulted. By monitoring heart rate and beat-to-beat blood pressure during head-up tilt testing, Valsalva maneuver and paced breathing, the symptoms and severity can be accurately assessed.

The goals of clinical evaluation are to identify the presence, distribution, and temporal pattern of autonomic dysfunction, specify the involved components of the autonomic nervous system, and of special importance, to detect treatable, serious disorders.

The WR TestWorks Autonomic Testing Labs are scientifically based and standardized to supplement and extend the patient history and examination with physiologic measurements.

With the WR TestWorks labs you will be able to perform tests of the following:

Sympathetic Cholinergic Function
     • QSART

Reflexive Cardiovagal Function
     • Valsalva maneuver with Beat-to-Beat BP and Heart Rate measurements
     • Heart Rate Response to Deep Breathing (HRDB)

Reflexive Sympathoneural Function

Orthostatic intolerance
     • Head-up Tilt with Beat-to-Beat BP and Heart Rate Measurements

WR TestWorks Autonomic Labs are

  • Custom – Systems are assembled and integrated specifically for each customer, in about 15 working days.
  • Modular – Modules includes sweat output testing, cardiovagal (ECG with recorded R-R) advanced cardiovagal/adrenergic (ECG and continuous beat-to-beat blood pressure measurements and tilt table), and Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) using the CASE IV System.
  • Turn-key – We include all the items you need for successful testing, based on your needs.

    Autonomic Function Testing is reimbursable.

    CPT CODES

95923, sudomotor, including one or more of the following: quantitative sudomotor axon reflex test (QSART), silastic sweat imprint, thermoregulatory sweat test, and changes in sympathetic skin potential.

95921, Testing of autonomic nervous system function; cardiovagal innervation (parasympathetic function), including two or more of the following: heart rate response to deep breathing with recorded R-R interval, Valsalva ratio, and 30:15 ratio.
